ABC News For Kids- Designed for the modern student, this is an informative and entertaining site that not only tells the news, but uses graphics and animation to make the points.

Grip Magazine- This is a free, high school written, online publication, featuring news, reviews, entertainment, sports, fashion, academia, and controversial teen topics.

Children's Express- This site is produced and written by kids from around the world, with the aim of providing for their peers a forum in which to learn about the issues that affect them.

KidsNet- KIDSNET helps children, families and educators intelligently access the educational opportunities available from television, radio and multimedia sources. Teachers can discover additional resources available to support specific television, radio and multimedia; design lessons that incorporate relevant programs that meet curriculum objectives as well as contribute to informal learning opportunities.

Highwired- Here high school journalism students can post school newspapers. This site is complete with lessons and all of the information needed to produce a school newspaper. Everything teachers and students require is on the web site. Even if they have no Internet experience, they can learn Highwired in less than 10 minutes.

On2-Online Newshour for Students- Catch the latest reports from student sources here. This site contains lots of topics, covering everything from high fashion to natural disasters. Students and teachers are encouraged to contribute editorials and ideas.

The Media Literacy Online Project- This is a comprehensive online media resource collection that contains links to sites related to media literacy. This is a good resource for any educator developing a media literacy unit.

Don't Buy It- Students can critically analyze media, fashion modeling, current music, junk food, and more.

Center for Media Literacy- This is a great resource for information and links.

Media Awareness Network- This Site contains great information and links for parents, teaches and students. It also contains a great downloadable game that teaches kids ages 9-12 how to discriminate good web info from junk info.

Ads.com- Teachers looking for a particular advertisement to teach media literacy can find it here. Find television ads by product or time slot!

Consumer Skills

Just Think- How do we cope in a world that is media saturated? Dedicated to teaching information, technology and visual literacy, this site provides current information on social events, films and lots more.

Cereally Speaking- This ten lesson, cross-curricular unit gives the students real life experiences with how price, prizes, the Internet, jingles, characters, packaging, and commercials can all work together to influence product choices.

Adcracker.com- Designed for advertising developers, this site is a wonderful place to teach high school advertising or to teach how advertising affects our behavior. Find some great ideas for all classroom levels here, too. 

Ad Dissection 101- In Webquest format, this project engages high school students in analysis of TV advertising. 

Consumer Jungle- Students become savvy consumers by learning about credit cards, car loans, check books, rent and other life skills.  Teachers find free classroom materials.
